Easter services at Summer Hill Church

"His wounds have healed us."
Jesus is remarkable. People often think of him as a great teacher, healer or thinker. But Jesus saw his own death as the key thing he did.
The events of the first Easter were horrific: Jesus faced betrayal and abandonment by his closest friends, false accusations and ultimately an unjust execution. On the surface, Jesus' death was a disaster. Many people thought he could not be from God because of the way he died. But there is more to understand.
Jesus saw that in his death he was facing God's judgement. Not because he deserved it, but because each of us do. Hundreds of years earlier the prophet Isaiah wrote 'he was pierced because of our wrong doing' and that 'his wounds have healed us.' It is by Jesus' death and his rising to new life that we can have healing, forgiveness and peace with God and each other. Come along to one of our church services this Easter to hear more about this great news, we'd love to meet you.
